General Description:
The MCR1 is a microprocessor controlled board that decodes data from Track 2
Mag Card Readers and communicates the valid data via RS232 or RS485 to a host
PC. The board can be ordered with a configuration to decode the ANSI/ISO BCD
data format from either a slide or insertion type Track 2 Card Readers. Other
formats and readers can be supported on special order. Data that is read and
verified is buffered and sent as ASCII characters as it is completed or on demand
through simple commands. If the MCR1 is configured for on demand communications
in RS485, then up to 256 units* can be independently communicated with, on a
single pair of wires. Power for the reader is supplied by the MCR1.
