This auto transmit unit features RS232 to RS422 4 wire full duplex conversion with an intermediate CMOS/TTL tap point.
-
The RS422 drivers allow 32 single unit loads at 4000 ft. and data rates up to 115.2 Kbps on the port.
-
Robust transient suppressors, and series resistors, help protect the RS422 transceiver from destructive transients often found in industrial and outdoor environments.
-
Transparent to all asynchronous data, with any combination of data, parity, and stop bits at data rates up to 115.2Kbps.
-
Edge mounted LED Indicators for power and data on the RS232 and the RS422 port.
-
An efficient onboard polarity protected power regulator accepts supply voltages from 9 to 35 VDC, at 1.5 Watts max.
-
Jumpers allow the user to remove the 120 ohm RS422 termination resistors, select the RS232 DTE/DCE mode, and enable the CMOS/TTL tap point.
-
The user connections are: a 6 position Wago style terminal strip(RS422), a 2 pin terminal strip/2.1 mm barrel connector (power) and a 6 position pin header (CMOS/TTL).
-
The versatile CMOS/TTL tap point enables the unit to be used is a full duplex converter to either the RS232 port, or the RS422 port.
-
Broad environmental range. Temperature: -40C to +85C (-40F to +185F). Humidity: 10 to 90% RH (non-condensing).
-
Four (4) easy mount, through hole standoffs, which accept #6 hardware, are provided on the circuit board.
-
Conformal Coating Available (Call us: 513-874-4796)
-
Accessories available are an enclosure, a 12VDC Switching Power Supply (Wall Wart), and a 7ft DB9F to RJ11/12 RS232 cable.
-
We also make isolated converters for use in environments that subject the equipment to higher levels of electrical interference.
General Description:
This versatile RS232 to RS485 converter allows the user to convert the limited distance RS232 signals to the RS422 electrical format. Using appropriate wiring, the distance can be extended to the limits of the RS485/422 system. A pair of these devices can be used to create an "RS232 extension cord". In electrically noisy environments, or to extend the distance of the "extension cord", the addition of an R E Smith DIFAR44 isolated repeater will enhance the performance of the connection.
The RSCOM2 is an Async bi-directional RS232 to RS485/RS422 interface converter
for 4-wire RS485/RS422 applications (full-duplex point-to-point) or, by using
the RTS (request to send) control line the unit can be configured as a 2-wire
half-duplex converter (See RSCOM2A for automatic TX enable). The unit has fixed
light bias on the RS485/RS422 receiver, jumper selectable termination, RS232
DTE/DCE selection, and operating mode settings. The unit has 5 LED indicators,
a Wago connector, and built-in transient protection. While the RSCOM2 is primarily
used in 4-wire applications, the flexibility built into the unit allows for
many other special applications as well. The unit will operate at speeds up
to 115.2Kbps.
The RSCOM2 is designed for office and/or industrial applications (non-isolated),
and is used primarily for 4-wire full-duplex, point-to-point applications (remote
sign control, RS232 "extension core"); however, 30 on-board jumper settings
provide a wide range of possible configurations to solve many communications
problems.
Need something special? Please contact us. We have additional isolated and non-isolated converters, repeaters, and repeater hubs. Units are generally stock to 2-3 business days for shipment. We design and manufacturer our entire product line, and offer technical support for our units, and can offer system recommendations for your application. Please give us a call: 513-874-4796
